Installation

One command installs Milo on macOS or Linux. You do not need Node.js: the installer downloads a standalone milo binary.

Install

$ curl -fsSL https://www.milocli.com/install | bash

What the installer does

It downloads the build for your platform, checks its SHA-256 checksum, and installs it to ~/.milo/bin/milo. If that directory is not on your PATH, it adds it to your shell profile. Open a new terminal afterwards.

Verify

Confirm the binary is on your path:

$ milo --version
$ milo --help

Updating

Milo updates itself. Once a day it checks for a new release in the background, and the next time you start it you are on the new version. To update right away, run:

$ milo update

To turn automatic updates off, set MILO_NO_AUTOUPDATE=1 in your shell profile.

Next steps

  • Open the Quickstart and run Milo in an existing repository.
  • Choose a model and provider before starting paid work.
